Has anyone seen ‘Last Night in SoHo’? I’m waiting for someone to tell me they really love it so I get over being a chicken and watch it.

Colin Kaepernick in Black & White
New | 4 Episode Limited Series | Netflix
Today’s subject line is pulled from the very end of the series, and confirmed for me who this show seems to be for. Which is kids/teens. It’s a mixed docudrama that’s part high school teen drama, part spoken word, part American history lesson. I enjoyed it because I didn’t know much about Colin Kaepernick’s backstory and loved Jaden Michael as High School Colin. If you’ve seen ‘13th’ (which if you haven’t stop and put that top of your list) then the presentation of stats and stories that confirm America’s institutionalized racism it will be extremely familiar.

The French Dispatch
New | Film | In Theaters
Go for Wes Anderson’s very Wes Anderson-y filmmaking. Or because you love The New Yorker. Enjoy Timothée Chalamet and Frances McDormand together. Stay for Jeffrey Wright’s monologuing.
Fun Fact: The NYU students that filled the Angelika on a Thursday night for this LOVED the film. And confirmed that I love an audibly responsive audience.

Sam Feder’s fantastic documentary on transgender representation in film & tv. It’s a must watch if you’d like to participate in any Dave Chappelle related conversations, or watch his new “Untitled” documentary (directed by Julie Reichert and Steve Bognar). Its delightfully informative and full of recognizable faces & nostalgic film clips.
Bonus: Listen to this video message that calls in Chappelle and The Closer from friend 👋 Scott Turner Schofield, founder of Speaking of Transgender and a Hollywood consultant on transgender representation.
